How the SecureLife App Helps Domestic Violence Victims During Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about the serious issue of domestic violence and how we can better protect and support those affected. This year, we at Galacxia, Inc. are proud to introduce the SecureLife app, a revolutionary tool that can make a significant impact on the lives of domestic violence (DV) victims.

I recently met with Human Options, a local non-profit organization in Orange County working tirelessly to prevent domestic violence and provide shelter and support services to those in need. Together, we explored how the SecureLife app can offer timely intervention and help victims collect evidence to bring perpetrators to justice.

How Domestic Violence Affects Millions

Domestic violence is a pervasive issue, with millions of people affected each year. Victims often face enormous barriers in seeking help, especially when abusers control or monitor their actions. The need for discreet, reliable tools to call for help has never been greater.

That’s where SecureLife comes in.

Discreet Emergency Alerts to Ensure Victim Safety

One of the key features of SecureLife is its discreet emergency alert system. This feature allows DV victims to summon assistance simply by not responding to a scheduled check on, without alerting their abuser. Future versions will include code words the victim can set up to summon police or nearby assistance. Another future feature is to integrate with home security systems, using artificial intelligence, facial recognition and voice activation to determine if a domestic violence act is being committed, and summon help regardless of whether a Check On had been scheduled.

For example, a victim can request to be checked on as often as desired – as little as once per minute, with the confidence of knowing that, if the victim does not respond, the SecureLife app automatically starts summoning help. This kind of subtle, non-invasive communication can be a lifeline for victims who are under constant surveillance.

Faster Intervention, Better Outcomes

When victims get intervention more quickly, it can make all the difference in preventing further harm. During our meeting with Human Options,, we discussed how the check-in feature in SecureLife could be used to ensure that victims have regular status updates without raising suspicion.

By integrating regular check-ins with a victim’s trusted support network, SecureLife helps:

  • Trigger faster interventions when victims are in danger.
  • Notify contacts if the victim is unable to respond, enabling quick responses from law enforcement or advocates.

In emergency situations, every second counts, and SecureLife empowers users to ensure help is on the way without having to physically call for it.

Obtaining Evidence to Incarcerate Perpetrators

One of the most challenging aspects for DV victims is collecting evidence to build a case against their abuser. In our discussion with Human Options,, we identified how SecureLife can help victims document abuse incidents, creating a trail of evidence that can be used in legal proceedings.

The app allows users to:

  • Store incident logs securely, detailing dates, times, and descriptions of abuse.
  • Record audio or video discreetly if safe to do so, providing valuable evidence to support the victim’s case.
  • Securely store important documents such as restraining orders, medical records, or legal documents, accessible at any time.

This evidence can be invaluable when building a case against the perpetrator, helping to ensure that justice is served and victims are protected in the long term.

Partnering with Domestic Violence Organizations

At SecureLife, we believe in working hand-in-hand with organizations like Human Options,to ensure our technology supports the ongoing efforts to protect domestic violence victims. During our collaboration, we identified key ways in which SecureLife can complement the work of shelters and advocacy groups by providing survivors with tools for safety, evidence collection, and emotional support.

We’re committed to empowering survivors with the tools they need to stay safe, seek help, and hold their abusers accountable.
