Introduction and Fancy Hard Collar
Hi, I’m Sandy Eulitt, CEO and founder of Life Backup Plan by Galaxia Incorporated. You might notice this fancy hard collar that I have on and that I love so very much. A week ago today, I got home from the hospital from having had a major cervical spine surgery. Instead of having friends worry about my safety and whether or not I was okay, I have used the Life Backup Plan app in three different ways throughout my recovery.
Sleep is critical to recovery
The first is is that I’ve set regular check-ins using the app. My friends all know that they will be notified if I don’t answer a check on if I’m in the bathtub or sleeping, which is most of what I’ve been doing. and that they can rely on the app to notify them if anything goes awry. This way, I’m able to sleep uninterrupted without friends calling me or me missing an important phone call from one of them. They know that I’m safe.
The second way that I’ve used this is that I did not expect to want some Tylenol muscle aches and pains.
Request Assistance Feature to the Rescue
I’m not a huge fan of prescription painkillers. In fact, I’m not a fan of them at all. After the first day, I didn’t really need them anymore, but I did feel like I needed some Tylenol. The only problem is I can’t drive. So I used the assistive skills feature of the app and I went in and I requested assistance to see if anybody could swing by the local CVS and pick this up for me. I went online and I ordered it and paid for it and stuff. I just needed somebody to pick it up and bring it to me. And one of my neighbors graciously did that. And a few days later, in fact today, I needed to go pick up a prescription. My doctors weren’t happy with the rate at which the inflammation is decreasing. So they prescribed for me another one of these steroid dose packs. I needed to get that from the pharmacy. And again, I went in to the assistive items, I mean the request assistance part of the app and requested to see if somebody could pick up that prescription for me and drop it off. And again, one of my neighbors graciously did so.
Pay it Forward
This is that pay it forward and pay into the pot idea.
The third way that I’ve used this is to track my symptoms. The app has what we call our lifelog feature in which you can go in and you can track your activities.
LifeLog™ for Symptom Tracking
You know, how you slept, how you slept, ate, drank, mood, any medications that you took, environmental factors, and any symptoms that you might be having. So, I’ve used this to track any pain that I was having, if I had any rash. This thing is irritating as all get out and the bandage here is itchy. So, I’ve kept that information. And when I called my doctor’s office yesterday to talk to them about the setback that I had had over the weekend with my pain, they were very happy with the detail of information that I was able to provide with to them by having that lifelog data available to them.
Not my First Rodeo
This situation is exactly why or one of the reasons why I invented the app to begin with. Unfortunately, this is not my first rodeo with a surgery. It’s not even my first rodeo with a cervical spine surgery, because just shy of four years ago, I had another one. And it was that incident that in part motivated me to develop this app.
Life Backup Plan Use Cases
So whether you are home alone recovering from surgery or whether you’re just alone period and don’t want to worry about, you know, laying at the foot of the shower if you hit your head while you’re in the shower and laying there for three days or falling while you’re walking down the steps, perhaps carrying a heavy box, or you like to go m mountain biking or hiking, or you’re a woman and you’re dating and you worry about dating safety, or you’re a parent wanting to check in on your children, or you are a hospital and you want an inexpensive way to do post- discharge monitoring of your patients. or you are an employer and you are looking for a way to create more early detection of accidents and illnesses to lower your health care costs. This app does all of that. It collects it enables you to enter medical information and we have a proprietary means of sharing that with health care systems.
