TiE SoCal hosted the screening of “Show Her the Money” at the Neuehouse Theater in Los Angeles

On Thursday night, I had the privilege of attending a screening of Show Her the Money at Neuehouse in Los Angeles with TiE SoCal. The film, which highlights the uphill battle women entrepreneurs face in securing venture capital funding, was truly an eye-opening experience. With only 2% of venture funding going to female founders, the movie showcased the determination and resilience of four visionary women pushing their businesses toward unicorn status. It was both inspiring and educational, and I couldn’t take notes fast enough—literally. I filled 10 pages in the dark, only to discover later that some notes were illegible, and I’d overwritten others. As I sat reviewing them, I thought, I really need to see this movie again, soon.

My Wish Was Answered!

This morning, as if the universe was listening, I received an email from the Leatherby Center for Entrepreneurship at Chapman University announcing another screening of Show Her the Money next month. Talk about timing! This is perfect, as it gives me another opportunity to absorb the invaluable lessons this documentary offers on the power of women-led ventures and the importance of financial backing for female entrepreneurs.

Launching the SecureLife App—Inspiration Meets Action

The timing couldn’t be better. The inspiration I gained from the movie has fueled my drive even more as we prepare to launch the SecureLife app this Monday. SecureLife is not just another app—it’s a personal safety and caregiving solution that automates check-ins, stores critical documents, and provides access to community resources. It’s designed to be a continuum of care for individuals and families, exactly the kind of innovative solution I saw women building in Show Her the Money. And much like the women in the documentary, I’m determined to overcome the challenges of raising capital and breaking into a competitive market.

With the app launch just days away, the film serves as a reminder that persistence, passion, and the right network can make all the difference in turning a great idea into a scalable, impactful business. The lessons I learned from the movie have already shaped my approach to SecureLife, and I’m more motivated than ever to take this venture to new heights.
